No sign-up, and nothing to wait for. Veamcast is on Google Play as a closed test whose tester list is a group anybody can join. Do these two on the phone, in this order, signed in as the Google account the Play Store uses on it.
Veamcast is on Google Play as an invite only test while it settles down. Tell us the Google account signed in on your phone. We email you the Play invite link straight away and add the address to the tester list, which is what makes the link work.
Already told you are on the list? Open the Play invite on your phone and follow the steps below.
The beta is open. Tap below on your phone, accept, and Play installs Veamcast and keeps it updated.
Join the beta on Google PlayDo this on the phone itself. Open this page on your Android device, not on a computer. Both routes below end with the app on the phone you are holding, and the Play route uses the Google account that is already signed in on it.
Nothing to override on this route, and Play installs each new build for you as we publish it.
Neither warning is a verdict on the app or on your data. What Veamcast does with what you send through it is set out in our privacy policy.
Installed from Google Play? Updates arrive on their own, like any other app on the phone. There is nothing to do and nothing to come back here for.
Installed the APK directly? Veamcast will not update itself. When a new version is ready, come back to this page and install the new APK straight over the old one. Your account, veams and settings are kept.
In that case you do not need to uninstall first, and you should not: uninstalling clears anything the app has saved on the phone.
Switching between the two, in either direction, is the one case that does need an uninstall. Google signs the Play copy with its own key and we sign ours, and Android refuses to replace an app with a build signed by somebody else. Remove the copy you have, then install the other one and sign in again.
| "App not installed" | A Veamcast build from the other route is already on the phone, and the two are signed with different keys. Uninstall the copy you have, then install this one. |
| Play says you are not a tester | The Google account signed in on the phone is not in the testers group, or you joined the group on a different account. Join the group with the account the phone uses, then open the Play link again. A join can take a few minutes to reach Play. |
| "The requested URL was not found" in Play | The listing is being opened before the opt-in has gone through. Tap Become a tester first, then give Play a few minutes. |
| "There was a problem parsing the package" | The download was cut short. Delete the file from Downloads and download it again on a stable connection. |
| The Install button is greyed out | Permission to install unknown apps has not been granted to whichever app you tapped the file from. Repeat step 4. |
| It installs but will not open | Check your Android version. Veamcast needs Android 7.0 or later. |
| Signed in, but nothing loads | Open Settings inside the app and make sure the developer server switch is off. |
| Still stuck | Send us the details and we will sort it out. |
| Android version | 7.0 (API 24) or later |
| Download size | Around 80 MB |
| Camera and microphone | To record video and voice veams |
| Photos and videos | To attach media you already have |
| Contacts | Optional, to address a veam without typing |
| Notifications | For incoming veams and calls |
Each permission is asked for when you first use the feature that needs it, and you can say no to any of them.
Veamcast is on Google Play as a closed test rather than a public listing, so searching the Play Store will not find it. The tester opt-in page is the way in, and until you have joined the group it is the only Play link worth tapping.
Once you are a tester, Veamcast has an ordinary Play Store page like any other app, and that is where updates and reinstalls come from. Opened before your opt-in has gone through it says the requested URL was not found. That is Play telling you it does not see you as a tester yet, not a sign anything is broken.
The mobile app is early and moving fast. The direct download lets us put fixes in your hands the day they are written instead of waiting on store review, so both routes stay open. A public listing follows once the app settles down.
Also available for Windows, where Veamcast is also a browser
and a multimedia email client. See what Veamcast does, or
see the Android app in screenshots.
